Cookies.
What we store in your browser, what we do not, and how to control it. As of this writing, this Site does not set any non-essential cookies and does not run any third-party tracker.
We aim to write these policies the way we operate — direct, specific, no legalese theatre. If anything here is unclear, write to desk@sierraoakaffiliate.com and we will explain it in plain language and update the document.
What is a cookie
A cookie is a small file a website puts in your browser. Some are essential (keep you logged in); others track you. We use as few as possible.
A "cookie" is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies are joined in this Policy by adjacent technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, fingerprinting scripts, tracking pixels, and similar identifiers — collectively, "Storage Technologies."
What this Site actually uses
Almost nothing. The Site is a static marketing site with a contact form. We do not run analytics or advertising pixels on it at this time.
As of January 10, 2026, the Site does not set any persistent cookies. It does not embed Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Plausible, Fathom, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Heap, PostHog, Hotjar, FullStory, Mouseflow, Microsoft Clarity, Meta (Facebook) Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Pinterest Tag, X / Twitter Conversion Tracking, Reddit Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, Google Floodlight, DoubleClick, Bing UET, Taboola Pixel, Outbrain Pixel, or any other cross-site tracker.
We use a single piece of first-party browser storage — a transient session cookie automatically set by our hosting platform for security and load-balancing. It is essential, expires at the end of your browser session, and contains no marketing identifier.
Categories and full inventory
Cookies are usually grouped into four categories under the EU ePrivacy regime. Here is where sierraoakaffiliate.com sits:
| Category | What it is | On this Site? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the Site to function (security, load balancing, page navigation). Allowed without consent under ePrivacy. | Yes — one transient session cookie from the hosting platform. |
| Functional / preference | Remember settings like language or theme. | No — we do not currently expose any user preferences that persist between visits. |
| Analytics / measurement | Used to count visitors, sessions, and broad usage patterns. | No — none in use. If we add a privacy-friendly analytics tool, we will list it here and ask for consent where required. |
| Marketing / advertising | Used to track visitors across sites and serve targeted ads. | No — none in use. We have a written policy against running advertising or behavioural-targeting pixels on this Site. |
No third-party tracking
We deliberately keep the Site clean. The only third-party assets are images you can clearly see — there are no invisible pixels.
The Site is intentionally built to load no third-party tracking code. Fonts are self-hosted at build time. Images are served from the same origin as the Site. There are no embedded videos, social-media widgets, or chat tools that would set a cross-site identifier in your browser.
If you see network calls in your browser's developer tools, you should see only requests to sierraoakaffiliate.com and its hosting platform. If you ever see otherwise, we want to know — email desk@sierraoakaffiliate.com.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a "do not sell" signal, we treat it as a binding opt-out — even though there is nothing for us to opt you out of yet.
We honour the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") browser-level signal as a valid opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, and Montana privacy law. We honour the legacy "Do Not Track" header similarly. Because the Site does not currently sell, share, or behaviourally target visitors, these signals confirm our existing default rather than changing it.
Controlling Storage Technologies in your browser
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings any time. Doing so will not break this Site.
Major browsers let you view, restrict, or delete cookies through their settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
- Brave: Settings → Shields → Cookies; default behaviour already blocks most cross-site trackers.
Blocking the single essential session cookie may slightly degrade form submission reliability, but will not block ordinary browsing.
If and when we add measurement tooling
If we ever turn on analytics, we will pick a privacy-friendly tool first, list it here, and — where required — ask for your consent before it runs.
We may, in future, add a measurement tool to help us understand which pages are read. Our internal rule is: pick a tool that (a) is hosted in the EU/US with a current DPA and 2021 SCCs, (b) does not set cross-site identifiers, (c) does not require us to share data with advertising networks, and (d) supports IP truncation or anonymisation by default. Plausible, Fathom, and Pirsch are examples we consider acceptable; Google Analytics 4 in its default configuration is not.
If and when we deploy any such tool, this Policy will be updated to list it specifically, and a consent banner will be shown to visitors in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and any other jurisdiction whose law requires prior consent. Consent will be granular and freely withdrawable. We will not set non-essential storage before consent.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We will update this page whenever we add or remove a Storage Technology. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page indicates when. For material changes, we will post a notice on the Site.
